The Fynal Out: Believe it or not

Cardinals rollingSurely you’ve heard about the tight N.L. Central.

The Cubs and the Brewers, battling it out every day for bragging rights and first place.

But don’t look now, the Cardinals are now just 3.5 games back in the division.

7-3 in the last 10 games, and now with a win streak of 4 games, St. Louis hasĀ  to be considered a true contender.

All this without two of the team’s starting pitchers and the team being outscored by 76 runs so far this season.

Cardinals 8, Brewers 3: Albert Pujols, Scott Rolen and Jim Edmonds all went yard for the Cardinals, who got a solid effort out of Joel Pineiro. Pineiro went 7 innings and gave up just 2 earned runs.

Devil Rays 6, Red Sox 5: Fantasy gem Andy Sonnanstine(we kid) broke his personal 8-game losing streak with his first victory since June 10. The Rays were backed by a 4-run fourth, highlighted by Carlos Pena’s 2-run double. Man-Ram and Ortiz were a combined 1-for-8.

Orioles 6, Yankees 3 (F/10): Despite Shelley “Slam” Duncan’s 3-run shot in the 9th to tie the game, Mariano Rivera (as always) couldn’t get the job done. Rivera gave up 3 runs in the 10th as the Yanks couldn’t gain any ground in the A.L. East (still 5 games back).

More scores…
