The Fynal Out: You’re outta here

Cox ejection record

Well, it’s about time Bobby.

We’ve been waiting and waiting for Bobby Cox to get ejected just one more time, and fynally, it’s happened (even if it was without much fanfare):

Fans at Turner Field on Tuesday night didn’t even know Cox was ejected for the 132nd time because the record-breaking ejection wasn’t preceded by his familiar jaunt onto the field or an arms-flailing argument with an umpire…Cox was thrown out for arguing from the dugout after Chipper Jones took a called third strike to end the fifth inning…

Congrats Bobby, that truly is a record worth recognition. We’re fairly sure there will never be an * next to this one.

Giants 4, Braves 5: Things were looking good for San Fran when Daniel OrtmeierSteve Kline hit a game-tying triple in the top of the ninth. Unfortunately, pitcher put the first two batters in the bottom of the inning on base. That eventually led to a Chipper Jones walk-off double.

Tigers 6, Indians 2 (F/10): If someone needed to come through for Detroit in the 10th, who do you think it would be? If you guess Ryan Raburn, you’re stupid. It was Magglio Ordoñez obviously (he is leading the majors in batting average). Mags’ 3-run shot in the 10th capped a 4-run extra inning for the Tigers. They lead the division (again) by a game.

Devil Rays 1, Red Sox 2: Jon Lester got a standing ovation for his first start at home, and his teammates gave the fans something else to cheer about. Consistently stymied by Scott Kazmir, the Sox managed some late magic with a Mike Lowell home run to tie the game in the 9th followed by a Coco Crisp walk-off single.
