So, I missed almost the entire Colts-Chargers game.
All I saw was 1) Indy’s opening drive, a march down the field in which Manning was something like 12-of-12, picking apart the overly annoying San Diego defense. And 2) Phillip Rivers’ Billabong shirt he stole from my 8th grade closet for his press conference.
Evidently, the game went downhill from there. Ugh. Very disappointing. If it weren’t for the 70 degree weather, the sun and the golf, the end to a disappointing season would have completely ruined my trip to Scottsdale, Ariz.
But (as usual), the well versed Patriots fans managed to keep some form of controversy in the press even after the loss. Observe:
EXETER, N.H. — Football fans can be quick to show their displeasure for hated rivals, but some say fans at the Indianapolis Colts-San Diego Chargers game this weekend went too far when they booed a teenage girl from New Hampshire, Manchester television station WMUR reported.
Anna Grant, of Statham, N.H., was being honored on national television for winning the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick Competition in the 14- to 15-year-old girls’ division. She was named among the other winners of the competition.
“Then, it got down to me, and they said, ‘Anna Grant from New England,’ and they’re all, like, ‘Boo!’” Grant said.
The Exeter High School freshman traveled to Indianapolis over the weekend with her parents. She was being honored as a champion, but her welcome was anything but warm.
And apparently, New England fans are irate at this (because something this inhumane would never happen at Foxboro).
Seriously, Pats Nation?
If I brought my little brother to Boston for a game, and he wore his Manning jersey, no one would say anything to him? Give me a break.
Interestingly enough, Anna seems to be the only one in Boston who understands what happened:
“Before I went down there, my friends said, ‘You know, you’ll probably get booed,”’ she said in a telephone interview. “I was kind of waiting for it. It really didn’t bother me at all. People at the game came up to me afterward and said, ‘It’s not you. It’s your jersey.”’
Why is it that you Pats fans never seem to be happy with just winning? It seems you just want to be controversial, shake things up.
Cheating is OK, but a Colts crowd booing a girl in a Tom Brady jersey? Hang ‘em.
Oh and by the way, here’s the video of the atrocity:
Don’t be so mad at the Pats, fynalcut – it was the Chargers that embarassed you, not the Patriots.
I like beans
Actually, the Pats embarrassed us too, it was just earlier in the year.
