I’ve been fairly indifferent on Mark Cuban buying the Cubs. To be honest, it probably wouldn’t make that big of a difference. He would spend more money, but he has spent more money in Dallas, and what have they won?
But despite my lack of enthusiasm, I still think MC would be good for the team if only because he’s so polarizing. He’d bring nothing but attention to the club.
Nevertheless, I knew it wouldn’t be long until a member of the Chicago media would say something stupid about Cuban’s potential ownership. Little did I know I’d hit the jackpot when it happened.
Mike Downey, of Chicagosports.com, says no way does he want Mark Cuban owning his team. And why is this, you may ask? Because Cuban is a Pirates fan!
Yes, that’s right, Mark cheers for the Bucs. Can’t you hear the outrage building in the Windy City? No? Could that be because the two teams aren’t actually “division rivals” like Downey asserts? When is the last time the Cubs were battling the Pirates down the stretch for the pennant? Yea, I don’t remember either.
